TOPPENISH Yakima Valley Farm Workers will celebrate a new clinic’s grand opening this Saturday.
The new building, located at 510 West First Ave., will serve as a main stage for the event.
The grand opening begins at 11 a.m. and will include a fiesta theme, complete with live music, free food and entertainment.
A ribbon cutting ceremony, clinic tours and activities for all ages are also planned.
The new clinic adds 17,000 square-feet to the current location.
With a total of 50,000 square-feet, the Toppenish Medical-Dental Clinic holds 54 medical care rooms and six specialty rooms. The dental department has 17 dental chairs, and two surgical procedure rooms.
The design also provides space for a Patient Care Team, co-located in a single area to encourage collaboration.
Departments housed at the Toppenish Medical-Dental Clinic include obstetrics and gynecology, family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, Pharmacy, lab services, radiology, dental and community health services.
In tandem with the grand opening event, the Chamber of Commerce’s annual Mural in Day event will feature a mural painted on the side of the clinic’s new conference center.
The clinic is one of three construction projects underway. The campus will add an optometry clinic and conference center this summer.
Construction on the 2,000 square-foot optometry clinic began in March.
It is the organization’s first optometric facility in any of its 19 medical clinics in Washington and Oregon.
“We’re starting with one optometrist but there will be room to grow,” Senior Director of Regional Operations, Darren Thomas said.
The convention center, along with a teaching kitchen, will be located in the former Yakima Valley College building just west of the new clinic.
