More holiday jobs in 2016

— State retailers will hire more than 12,700 seasonal workers throughout the holiday season, according to state Employment Security Department economists.

Last year, employers hired 10,542 additional workers during the fourth quarter of 2015.

“Seasonal retail hiring across the state is expected to rebound this year after declining the past two years,” economist Paul Turek said.

The holiday hiring forecast for October through December call for nearly 100 more seasonal jobs in Yakima County (from 354 in 3015 to 457).

The forecast calls for smaller holiday job growth in Benton County, from 420 jobs to 467.
