He married Delores Marie Duff, Nov. 4, 1942, in Yakima. Delores passed away July 16, 2000, after almost 58 years of marriage.

Del enlisted in the Army and proudly served as a machine gunner in the Pacific Theater, including Okinawa, Leyte and the Philippines. Among his awards were two bronze stars and a purple heart.
