Mabton man is arrested

— A local man is accused of threatening to burn down a house.

Miguel Baltazar Gonzalez, 31, is charged with felony harassment after he allegedly threatened to burn down a local house on Aug. 28, probable cause documents state.

Gonzalez is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 16.

He was in Yakima County Superior Court Friday for a preliminary appearance, records show. A no-contact order was issued at that time.

He admitted to police he sent a text message to Jesselle Venecia that said he would burn down her mother’s home that night, records show.

“I was just feeling down and I shouldn’t have done that,’ he told officers, records show.

Gonzalez was considered “armed and dangerous” at the time officers detained him, police documents state.
