Chinook near Vernita area

— Fishermen are already setting up camp on the north side of the Columbia River, ready to catch their allotment of Chinook salmon.

From Sunday through Tuesday, McNary Dam officials have reported more than 10,000 Chinook crossing the fish ladder daily. Only about 2,000 Chinook are passing Priest Rapids daily, leaving a lot in the Vernita area to catch.

Fishermen are at Vernita hoping to catch their quota before Chinook head upstream over Priest Rapids Dam.
