Crash injures Benton City woman

— A local woman is recovering from injuries after her vehicle flipped over Monday morning.

Mercedes Valdez, 27, was eastbound on Interstate 82 when she lost control of the 2005 Chevrolet Blazer she was driving, the Washington State Patrol reported. The vehicle entered the median and flipped.

Valdez was injured and taken to Kadlec Medical Center, troopers said. She was wearing a seat belt.

Neither drugs or alcohol were not factors.

Valdez’s inattention caused the crash, the State Patrol said. Troopers charged her with second-degree negligent driving.
