Spartans boys win, girls lose

— The Lightning boys lost, 4-1, to Granger, and the girls won, 5-0, on Tuesday.

The Spartans boys won both singles matches. Jake Slade won, 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 against Ben Newman of La Salle. The second match was a forfeit to Granger.

The Lightning forfeited two doubles matches, but in No. 1 doubles action, Trennan Slade and Kamiakin Puyette of the Spartans lost in two sets by identical 6-1 scores to brothers Jeff and Tommy Vargas.

In girls action, Ababelle Castillo of Granger lost, 6-0, 6-2 in No. 1 singles play; and No. 2 singles player Alexis Arciga fell, 6-0, 6-1. No. 1 doubles players Sophie Blodgett and Jasmin Aldaco fell 6-1, 6-2; Naya and Kaitlyn Roettger lost in two sets by identical 6-2 scores in No. 2 play; and Maya Rodriguez and Bella King fell in No. 3 play, 6-0, 6-1 (12-10).
