WAPATO Three camping trailers worth about $10,000 were destroyed in a Sunday evening fire at 101 South St.
The alarm came into Yakima County Fire District No. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
Capt. J.J. Ihnen said the blaze was under control by 8 p.m. Nobody was injured in the blaze.
Four fire stations and 20 firefighters responded. Assists came from the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, Wapato Police, Pacific Power and the Red Cross.
Ihnen said a vehicle and debris were on fire, and that caused a grass fire that affected neighboring properties. However, there was no damage to those.
The owner, Reynaldo Velasco, used the camp trailers as a residence. He lost everything, Ihnen said, including food and clothing.
