DAILY SUN NEWS EDITORIAL
It was nice the past few days watching people here and across the country celebrating the total eclipse of the sun.
An eclipse is really a simple matter, one object getting in the way of, or in front of another. In football terms, it’s like a quarterback being engulfed by a defensive end. Some people think that’s beautiful too.
If the eclipse happened every year, fewer people would get jacked up about it. But the next one for this part of the world will come to Montana in 2044. The one witnessed in Oregon last week made Oregonians wait 99 years.
That’s why so many people get so excited. With our lives wracked with the pressures of getting through life, it’s nice to just let your hair down once in a while.
Over the weekend, eclipse watchers were unconcerned about Korea, a collision of ships at sea, race riots or some mad bomber coming to where they were.
They had no thoughts of their world coming to an end.
