Police: Burglary suspects caught red-handed

In a case that made it to court on Dec. 20, Toppenish police stopped a burglary in progress and arrested four individuals on Nov. 29.

Three of the four were enrolled Yakamas and were turned over to Yakama Nation Police.

The fourth individual was Tyrone Polk, 23. He is not enrolled.

It was nearing 11:30 when police were dispatched to the incident in the area of 718 W. 3rd Ave.

Officer Ceja, who wrote the charging narrative, said officer Cameron and he took opposite sides of the Mid Valley Storage yard and detained one individual each.

The other two individuals were nabbed by other responding officers, according to the court record.

After being read his Miranda rights, Polk said he used bolt cutters to get through two fences and to cut a chain on one of the storage units, the court record shows.
