OUTLOOK A family Christmas gathering in the 300 block of Outlook Road turned drinking party and eventually yielded an assault arrest on Christmas Eve.
According to Detective Sgt. Mike Russell, the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office received a call of assault in progress at 7:40 p.m.
Sheriff’s deputies and officers from Granger and Sunnyside police responded to the call. They found a couple of people with knife wounds to their hands.
According to Russell, a family had gathered at that address. There was quite a bit of beer drinking, he said.
A member of the party became angry, and a fight started, Russell said.
Jose Morfin, 31, of Sunnyside, allegedly went for a knife, Russell said. Russell believes the people with knife wounds on their hands received them by defending themselves or, perhaps, trying to disarm the disgruntled guest.
Morfin was charged with two counts of felony assault.
