— New signs have been erected along Interstate 82 alerting motorists of the Jerry Taylor Veterans Plaza.

The signs were posted along the interstate near the Outlook and Waneta road exits.

“This is a very good tool for us to advertise our project that honors veterans,” organizer Greg Schlieve said Friday, crediting Sen. Jim Honeyford, R-Sunnyside, for getting the state to mark the veterans memorial.

The memorial on South Ninth Street features granite and black granite walls. The black walls are in honor of veterans who were prisoners of wars and or received medals of honor.
