SUNNYSIDE A local woman accused of leading Washington State Patrol troopers on a chase appeared in Yakima County Superior Court yesterday.
Shanna R. Greene, 35, is charged with third-degree driving while license suspended and driving without an ignition interlock system.
She was stopped in a Ford Focus on Monday near the intersection of state Highway 241 and Yakima Valley Highway, court documents show.
A trooper noticed her vehicle had a defective center mount brake light and activated his lights in an attempt to make contact with the driver, records show.
The Focus proceeded through the intersection northbound on state Highway 241, records show. The trooper, at about Factory Road, activated his siren a second time.
The driver of the vehicle refused to stop, turned westbound onto Sheller Road and increased speed to as much as 70 mph in a 40 mph zone, records show.
The pursuit was terminated as the Focus approached the intersection of North 16th Street and Sheller Road, records show.
The trooper said the Focus turned north on North 16th Street after failing to come to a complete stop.
He followed the Focus to 525 Rouse Road, where he observed a female exit the driver’s side, records show.
The female ran from the vehicle and the trooper stopped and gave her verbal commands to stop and get on the ground, records show.
She failed to comply before running around a mobile home. At that time, she did stop and comply, records show.
The female was taken into custody and the trooper was able to obtain her identity, records show.
