PROSSER In a suspenseful who-done-it story line, a man remarries after his first wife’s mysterious death, unaware of his jealous secretary’s role in her death and her nefarious plans for his second wife.
That is the set-up for the Valley Theater Company’s production “Speaking of Murder,” to be presented Sept. 8 at Princess Theatre, 1228 Meade Ave.
The show, now in rehearsals following the selection of the cast, will be the first of its kind for the community theater company.
The company is embarking in its first murder to be directed by Bill Campbell and co-produced by Suzanne Kephart and Linda Pietz.
The secretary uses the man’s young son as a foil as she establishes a motive, according to Campbell.
Cast members are Doug Hansen as Charles Ashton, Jenny Johnson as Connie Barnes Ashton, Finnegan Doherty as Ricky Ashton, Emily Johnson as Janie Ashton, Sarah Timmermans as Annabelle Logan, Connie Hull as Mrs. Walworth, Alisen Reid as Mildred, and Joseph Charvet as Mitchell. The cast has performed in previous VTC plays.
The show will be presented in five performances Sept. 8, 9, 10, 15 and 16, and will kick off the company’s 2017-2018 season.
All shows for the new season will offer a Sunday matinee as the third of five performances.
Season tickets are available online at www.ThePrincessTheatre.net and at the Princess Theatre during regular office hours. They may also be purchased by calling the theatre at 509-786-2180.
