Such is the case this weekend if you go - and you should - to the Alder Creek Pioneer Picnic and Rodeo.
Whether it’s camping in the pines at Cleveland Park or dancing under the stars, the setting near Bickleton is attractive... but especially more so because of the friendly people who will welcome you with open arms.
Ride the century-old carousel with its original horses meticulously restored and preserved.
This is the only weekend you can actually ride that carousel with its rocking horse motion, after that it’s back to the Carousel Museum.
And there’s the rodeo, lots of rodeo.
Yep, you’ll see the pros go at it competing for NPRA points and pride.
But you might just see your neighbors, too.
There’s youth barrel racing in two different age divisions, including 12 years old and under.
And how about this for a kick?
Merchant cow milking competition with as many as six teams a day giving it a go.
It’s rural, country living at its best.
In this hectic-paced, digital driven world we all need a little bit of Cleveland, the park not the Ohio metropolis.
So get out to Alder Creek this weekend.
