PROSSER Charges are pending against a Sunnyside woman known for her involvement in local veterans activities.
Coralea Pickett-Farris, 53, was westbound in a 2006 Ford pick-up on Interstate 82 at 7:14 p.m. Sunday when she struck another vehicle while attempting to make a lane change at Milepost 78, the Washington State Patrol said.
The impact caused both vehicles to overturn on the median, troopers said.
The other vehicle was a 2001 Ford Explorer driven by Lori A. Fulk, 56, of Elma, troopers said.
Both drivers were injured and taken to PMH Medical Center, the patrol said.
Fulk’s passenger, 58-year-old Arnold J. Funk, also of Elma, was injured.
He, too, was taken to the hospital.
Both vehicles were destroyed, the patrol said. The cause of the crash is under investigation and charges are pending, the patrol said.
Alcohol or drugs were factors, the patrol said.
Pickett-Farris has been involved in the Grandview VFW Ladies Auxiliary and is a member of the area’s Honor Guard.
She played taps during a Memorial Day ceremony at Grandview Cemetery.
