Lower valley man charged

— A local man is accused of falling asleep at the wheel and causing a crash that injured four people.

Brian D. Blakely, 41, is charged with negligent driving, the Washington State Patrol said.

He was eastbound on state Highway 12 when he fell asleep south of Waitsburg, troopers said. Blakely lost control of the 2000 Dodge Neon he was driving and it crashed into a building.

Blakely and his three passengers, all from Dayton, were injured and taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center, troopers said.

His passengers were Nancy S. Castleberry, 37; Brody Logan, 10; and Haley Logan, 12, troopers said.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were factors, the patrol said. All were wearing seat belts.
