Troopers plan emphasis

— Washington State Patrol troopers will be focusing on motorists following others too closely during a three-day enforcement emphasis that begins tomorrow.

According to the patrol, last year 24,300 motorists were cited under Revised Code of Washington 46.61.145 for following too closely.

The law requires drivers to keep a reasonable and prudent distance between them and the car in front of them.

Failure to follow the law can lead to a $136 ticket, and up to $187 if there is a rear-end crash.
