Boys win, girls suffer loss

— The Grandview boys and girls tennis teams played a full match against the Bulldogs yesterday.

The boys won, 3-2, and the girls fell, 1-4.

Greyhounds No. 1 singls netter Alfonso Granados defeated Andrew Hull of Ellensburg, 6-2, 6-3; No. 2 player Nathan Barrientes was defeated, 4-6, 3-6, by Johnny Bartlett of the Bulldogs; No. 1 teammates Roy Escareno and Esgar Valencia dropped their match, 6-2, 3-6, 4-6, to Ellensburg’s Tommy Hyatt and Shin Sun; No. 2 doubles players Joel Pin and Marc Martinez defeated Bulldogs Austin Ness and Jacob Holdeman, 6-0, 6-2; and No. 3 doubles netters Isaiah Villarreal and Devin Amaro of the Greyhounds won, 6-2, 6-3, in their match against Ben Shissler and Andy Garcia.

In girls action, No. 1 singles player Alexandra Gonzalez defeated Rosalyn Govela of the Bulldogs, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2; No. 2 singles player Molly Carter of Ellensburg defeated Alexa Rodriguez, 6-2, 6-0; No 1 doubles players Tamzen Shissler and Ashley Higdon of the Bulldogs defeated Grandview’s Lorena Torres and Sonya Trevino, 6-2, 6-4; No. 2 teammates Wendy Garcia and Maria Ramos of the Greyhounds fell, 1-6, 2-6, to Laura Johnson and Aubrey Higdon; and No. 3 netters Ana Wihter and Heather Hickman of Ellensburg defeated Ari Moreno and Briseida Espindola, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
