Fresh off the coronation of a new royal court last night, the city of Zillah is ready for a closeup Friday and Saturday.
Zillah Community Days includes a community talent show at 7 p.m. Friday, then offers plenty of opportunity Saturday for the town and its residents to welcome visitors. There will indeed be something for everyone Saturday during the festival.
Like to stay active?
Well, you’re in luck as a fun run will start at 8 a.m. Saturday from the high school. If you have a hankering for a big breakfast, well the Lions can fill the bill with a breakfast at Stewart Park about the same time.
And that leads to the festival’s highlight, a parade that starts at 11 a.m. Saturday. Several floats from Zillah, as well as the surrounding communities, will be on display.
If you’re looking for more, well the community of Zillah can help there, too.
There will be upwards of 50 vendors in the park with games for all ages. And for those who would like to have a bit of Broadway this weekend, Zillah High School will present performances of the hit musical “Oklahoma!”
And if that’s not enough, well there’s the landmark Teapot Dome gas station the city has carefully preserved. Adjacent to the historic gas station is the city’s firefighters memorial.
If you like what you see there, the community is also collecting donations to help construct a planned veterans memorial as well. The Zillah Chamber of Commerce agreed yesterday to kick in $2,500 toward the remaining $10,000.
It’s Zillah’s turn to shine this weekend, and we hope to see you there for Community Days.
