TOPPENISH A short police chase, firearms and drugs landed a Grandview man in jail early Sunday morning.
Leodegario Lorenzo Ibarra, 32, appeared in Yakima County Superior Court yesterday to face charges of possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine with intent to deliver, third-degree driving with a suspended license, second-degree unlawful possession of a fire arm and use of drug paraphernalia.
Toppenish police attempted to stop Ibarra at 321 S. Elm St., but he fled, leading officers on a chase that ended at the intersection of state Highway 22 and North Myers Road.
Ibarra had a pistol, a baggie containing 2.99 grams of crystal methamphetamine and a pipe in his pockets at the time of his arrest, court records show. The firearm was registered to a deceased person from Bellingham.
Police searching Ibarra’s vehicle also found digital scales, more methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and another weapon, court records show. He was being held without bail.
