Castilleja a finalist for superintendent

Okanogan School District releases short list of finalists

— A local man is on a short list of finalists to head the Okanogan School District.

Joseph Castilleja was named as a finalist to replace the retiring Richard Johnson by the headhunting firm McPhereson and Jacobson.

The other finalists are Ashley Goetz of Okanogan and Richard McFarland of Dallas, Ore.

The names of the finalists were presented to the Okanogan School District ton Nov.

All three finalists have been invited to Okanogan — a small town on U.S. Highway 97 about 40 miles south of the U.S.-Canada border — for interviews Dec. 4.

“Numerous stakeholder groups will have the opportunity to meet the final candidates and submit input to the board about each of them,” the headhunting firm said in a press release announcing the finalists.

The Okanogan School District hopes to offer the superintendent’s job to one of the three by Dec. 11.

Once the job offer is made, the district will begin salary and benefits negotiations.

Consultant Don Hague will follow that up with performance objectives.
