Ted’s column helps to wear the ‘right glasses’

FORUM

I was among those who was sorely disappointed by Ted Escobar’s front page coverage of Tom Paul’s death — until I reread the article several times.

I realized, upon multiple readings, Ted was actually giving a true and honoring view of Tom, but only if one believes in the freedoms which Tom lived by and walked out. I appreciated Ted’s Oct. 5 column explaining his position, which was intertwined in his first article when looked at with the “right glasses.” I think it was the original title which had most of us wearing the wrong glasses, as we first read of Tom’s death.

Tom was a strong man, of great principles, and he should be an example for all of us to live according to our values.
