Council continues budget talk

Grandview board has two meetings today

— The City Council will convene in a special council-of-the-whole budget session at 5:30 p.m. today and continue with a regular meeting at 7 p.m.

The sessions take place in Council Chambers of City Hall, 207 W. Second St.

During the council-of-the-whole session, the city library director and police chief are expected to present their budget requests for the next fiscal year.

The session will also include discussion of budget hearings.

In other business during the committee talks, the council will review a possible emergency declaration for immediate repairs to the sewer transmission main.

Other topics include talks of sidewalk improvements for Elm and Fir streets, an agreement for cooperative facilities use with Toppenish and surplus museum property.

The council will move into a formal business session at 7 p.m.

The only active agenda item is potentially authorizing the mayor to sign an exclusionary water agreement with Port of Grandview officials.

The council’s consent agenda includes payroll and claims.

Council members also have an opportunity to bring up new topics of discussion and will hear reports from staff.

The meetings are open to the public.
