SUNNYSIDE The Lady Grizzlies were outpaced and overwhelmed by Wenatchee’s offense through most of last night’s match.
The Panthers attacked the goal often, giving keeper Morgan Duim plenty of work in the goal box.
The Grizzlies made it to the other end of the field on the attack twice before the halftime whistle, but were unable to capitalize on the near chances.
The score was 3-0 in favor of the Panthers with 12 minutes left in the first half.
Sunnyside coach Elizabeth Garcia did not report final statistics as of press time.
Wahluke 1, Granger 1
The Spartans ended their match against Wahluke in a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation.
The teams chose not to decide the match in overtime, Granger coach Stephanie King said.
Yaneli Torres of the Spartans was the first to strike the back of the net. She scored unassisted in the 15th minute.
The Spartans held on to a 1-0 lead through the halftime intermission.
Wahluke scored its goal in the 69th minute.
Although the Spartans dominated on the attack in the first half, King said the team continued to struggle with the finish.
“We couldn’t keep our focus through the entire 80 minutes,” she said.
Keeper Jasmin Rodriguez worked hard, denying Wahluke on 10 scoring attempts. Her teammates directed the ball between the crossbars 7 times.
The Wahluke keeper recorded 6 saves. The team had 11 shots on goal.
Mabton 0, Warden 6
The Vikings traveled to Warden yesterday and were unable to get the ball between the crossbars.
