Boys and girls from 8-13 with a love of football are being put through their paces.

Grid Kid practice started Wednesday, and the Sunnyside teams were hard at work on the fields behind Harrison Middle School.

Team A (12 and 13-year-olds) is coached by Ruben Reyes, Jose Cazares, Fernando Esquierdo, John Rendon and Israel Arivas.

Team B11 (11-year-olds) is coached by John Rubio and Hector Canales; Team B10 is led by Max Saldana, Phil Blankenship, Ralph Chadis, Joe Luther and Oscar Hernandez; C black is coached by Jimmy Salinas and Abel Montelongo; and Melchor Reyes and Lupe Cardenas are coaching the C red team.

Saldana noted all the coaches are volunteers, helping to shape the youngsters into quality football players via the fundamentals.

This season, which begins Saturday, Aug. 26, all Grid Kid games for teams in the Lower Yakima Valley will be played in Sunnyside.
