— If you are looking for signs of a rebounding economy locally, take a look at what’s happening at Villa Real Estates.

According to Realtor Gina Gamboa, construction started again in 2017 and is humming now.

Villa Real is on the northern skirt of Harrison Hill and into the flat beyond. It is visible from Yakima Valley Highway as you arrive at Sunnyside.

There are two main streets that run parallel north and south, Villa Real Drive on the west side and Ivone Drive on the east.

Villa Real appears to be fully built and occupied. Ivone may have a little occupancy, but most of the homes there were recently built or are being built.

Arcos Construction, owned by brothers Hugo and Roy Arcos of Sunnyside, is about halfway through the building of four new homes.

Two have been sold, Hugo said. Two are waiting for buyers.

“They won’t be on the market very long,” Gamboa said. “It’s a sellers market.”

Gamboa describes the homes in Villa Real “Nice entry homes. They run about 1,400 square feet, two bedrooms and two baths on one floor at about $214,000.

“I was down there taking a look,” she said. “Our inventory is very low. Not just for us (Hearth and Home Realty) but everybody. A new home goes on the market, and there are 10 showings right away.”

Gamboa said there are three or four Villa Real homes listed now. She expects more in the near future.

The lots on the Culdesacs at the ends of Ivone and Villa Real Drives are devoid of housing.
