Shooting kills one, injures one

Injured man sent to Haborview

— An afternoon shooting here Friday took the life of one man and severely wounded another, according to Yakima County Sheriff’s Deputy Jerrold Towell.

The shooting, just after 1 p.m. took place at 403 W. 1st St., police records show.

The injured man, whose name has not yet been released, was transported by ambulance to Yakima Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital and then on to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Although the homicide too place in Wapato, the Police Department has requested the assistance of the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Bureau.

The Yakima County Coroner’s office conducted and autopsy Monday. The cause of death was exsanguination caused by a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The deceased man’s name is William Gardipee who was 27 years of age at the time of his death. The injured man’s name is not being released at this time, Towell said.
