ZILLAH It appears the Ash Wednesday-Valentine’s Day school massacre in Florida has brought out a rash of hoax incidents and perhaps some that were real.
Friday morning, Highline College, in the Seattle area, had to lockdown because of what were believed to be gunshots. Police investigated and said there was “zero evidence” of a shooting.
The School District here had to deal with a similar situation Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
According to Superintendent Doug Burge, several parents expressed concern after learning that threats have been part of student chatter on phones and the Internet.
Burge said there were rumors of a school threat at Zillah High School on Wednesday, but no evidence was found that suggested any threat was made.
After reporting the incident at Highline, radio news said there have been numerous such incidents across the country.
