Third president installed

— Andrew Sund, Ph.D., will be installed as the third president of Heritage University on March 16.

The inauguration ceremony begins at 10 a.m. in Smith Family Hall on the Heritage University campus, 3942 Fort Road. A reception will immediately follow at noon in the Eagle’s Café.

Pre-installation events include the President’s Inauguration Prelude from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. March 14 at Heritage University.

Heritage will celebrate the cultural heritage of the first peoples of the Yakima Valley. The prelude will begin with the dedication of the permanent installation of the teepee, followed by brunch.

In the evening there will be a reception at the Heritage University regional site at Columbia Basin College in Pasco from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Faculty, staff, students and alumni are invited to the reception to welcome Dr. Sund.

On March 15, K-12 educators from throughout the ESD 105 region are invited to the Yakima Valley Educators luncheon to meet Dr. Sund.

This event will take place in Smith Family Hall at Heritage University from 12-1:30 p.m. Thursday evening. The President’s Inauguration Jubilee will take place at the Seasons Performance Hall in Yakima from 6:30-9 p.m. The jubilee will celebrate the richness of the Yakima Valley through the exploration of people from the wide array of cultures who call the valley home.

The Inauguration Ceremony and President’s Inauguration Prelude are free and open to the public.
