Fashion City; long time truck repair shop close

— It may have seemed like Fashion City in the Mid Valley Mall just closed over night, but a mall spokesman said the clothing store management, said the store’s lease ran out Dec. 31.

With the lease up, the Fashion City store had to be closed by the end of the year, mall management said.

According to other shop owners in the mall, the Fashion City manager told his staff on Tuesday that Wednesday would be the store last day. The store windows were papered by Thursday morning.

While no one wanting to go on the record, the mall management did say that a new tenant is interested in the location.

A new tenant may be on site by the end of the month, the spokesman said.

In other year-end closures, the Valley Truck Services at 601 State Route 241 has also closed as the year ended.

In business as a truck repair company, the business was also known for fabricating truck beds and equipment.

In 2016, the company expanded into truck rentals for the Penske company.

Owned by Ed Werkhoven and his son, Chad, the truck repair service closed as of Dec. 31.

Ed and Mary Werkhoven recently said they plan to travel more. Chad Werkhoven has decided to go into the ministry full time. He is currently the pastor of discipleship and administration at Sunnyside Christian Reform Church.

He is currently seeking is Masters of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary.

A family member said the building and space has been leased by another party.
