SUNNYSIDE For a young man, who started his career working the sales counter at the Grandview Bleyhl Store, taking on store manager duties is a natural fit.
Noe Gonzalez, 27, took over as store manager of the Sunnyside location as of Dec. 1.
Gonzalez has worked at the Sunnyside Co-op retail store for four of his 10 years with the company. He began his career right out of high school in Grandview and worked at the Sunnyside store as a buyer of small products before three years in the orchard and vineyard outside sales division.
Gonzalez is now in the process of finishing up the details in the middle of a store remodel and reset as store manager.
The remodel adds shelves in the 5,500-square foot store, runs the departments the length of the store, including vertical space, and even adding slider components to double shelf space.
“We have increased the shelve space for our products and increased the area where we hold public workshops,” Gonzalez said.
He said the changes are making the store more customer-friendly.
The store has added more products, including TrueValue hardware, adding to the co-Op’s one stop shop plan.
“Our company is continuing to expand to meet the needs of the co-op members,” he said.
He said the addition of special events like next month’s 4-H-FFA Dairy Cattle workshop on Feb. 22, are answering member’s needs.
Currently, we are promoting the “2018 I Love my Farmer” contest,” he said. The contest which runs online gives the winner a $1,000 prize package. John Smasne was the 2017 winner.
“I’m excited about all of the changes and new products,” Gonzalez said.
