TOPPENISH A local man appeared in Yakima County Superior Court last week to answer to charges from a Dec. 22 incident.
Sergio Cervantes, 27, was charged with possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
Cervantes, a convicted felon, was arrested after police responded to a cellphone call for a shooting, court records show.
Because it was a possible shooting, police removed all three occupants, obtained a search warrant and examined the car, records show. A machete-style knife, a baggie containing a crystalline substance and a handgun were recovered.
