— Fiber artists from throughout the Yakima Valley will gather Saturday, July 14, at Sage Bluff Alpacas in Prosser for the farm’s 8th annual Summer Fiber Arts Festival.

The Spin-In is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., It’s appropriate for all ages, and admission is free.

Sage Bluff Alpacas is located at 8401 S. Steele Road. Phone 509-786-4507 for more information, or visit: www.sagebluffalpacas.com.

According to owner Jennifer Ely, visitors will be able to tour the farm, meet the alpacas, talk with breeders John and Jennifer Ely, and shop luxurious alpaca retail.

Popular vendors of fine hand-crafted cards and fiber arts will also be on hand.

If you haven’t attended this festival before, it attracts numerous fiber artists who make yarn from Alpaca fiber on the old spinning wheel your great, great grandma used.

Hence, a Spin-in.

Ely noted that area fiber artists will demonstrate “fiber to fashion” techniques including spinning, weaving, felting, and knitting. Many will have beautiful selections of their creative work for sale.

A braided rug class will be offered from noon to 4 p.m. Pre-registration is required, and you can do that by contacting Jennifer Ely at 509-786-4507.

Ely said visitors will likely enjoy meeting the farm’s newest additions, the cria (babies) that have been born this summer. And you could win an alpaca teddy bear in the farm’s “Name the Cria Contest.”
