Lower Valley teams fared well in the first round of finals Saturday the Mid-Valley Swim League championship at Toppenish last weekend.
Lower Valley swimmers were led by Devan Harrington of Sunnyside. She swept all her finals races.
The 10-and under girls swimmer took first in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 3:38.33.
In the 50-meter breaststroke she clocked 49.08. She won the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 36.69.
The 10-and under girls 200-meter medley was a Lower Valley show. Bree Valenzuela of Grandview was second in 3:43.37 and Payton Belle Baudrau of Prosser was third 3:47.87.
Grandview took the top two spots in the girls 12-and under 200-meter medley. Jedida Alvarez took first in 3:17.65. Alyssa Van Tress was second in 3:24.57.
Lower Valley took the top four spots in the girls 12-and under 50-meter breaststroke. Alvarez was the title winner in 45.12. Alondra Ruiz of Sunnyside took second in 46.92. Van Tress was third in 48.49, and Carter L. Stark of Prosser took fourth with a clocking of 48.77.
Avery Bonzi of Sunnyside finished first in girl 12-and under freestyle with a time of 35.64. Right behind her in 35.83 was Alvarez of Grandview.
Arianna Sanchez of Sunnyside finished third in the girls 16-and under 50-meter freestyle in a time of 31.86.
In the boys 10-and under 200-meter individual medley, Johnny Gudino of Prosser took second in 3:47.48.
Christopher Villanueva of Sunnyside took second in the 200 IM in boys 12-and under with a time of 3:22.04.
Second place in the boys 10-and under 50-meter breaststroke went to Kael Campos of Sunnyside in 53.78.
Nicolas Cortez of Grandview won the boys 16-and under 50-meter breaststroke in 38.01.
In the boys 10-and under 50-meter freestyle, Kael Campos took second in 39.75.
Damian Smasne of Grandview finished second in the boys 14-and under in 31.72.
In boys 16-and under freestyle, Christian Malave of Prosser took second in 28.20.
Hannah Binfet of Grandview finished third in the girls 18-and under 50-meter breaststroke in 45.37. Merecedes Mendoza and Cha-cha Ruiz, both of Grandview, took 7th and 8th respectively.
Arianna Sanchez took third in the girls 16-and under 50-meter breaststroke.
