In its time- honored tradition, a meal of “SOS” will be served at 10 a.m. Nov. 10, in observance of Veteran’s Day.
SOS, that combination of gravy on a toast, will be served with eggs and fruit will prepared by the Grandview Fred E. Hayes Post 57 of the American Legion.
There is no charge for the meal, but it recommended that reservations be made to ensure there will be plenty of food, Post Commander Robert Gates said.
The is the event is to honor local veterans. “But it also recognizes others in our community, especially those in public safety,” Gates said.
In the past the Post has used this event to honor law enforcement, firefighters, humanitarians, and members of the press.
“While we are still seeking nominations for various awards, the Post will be presenting the Humanitarian/Heroism Award to the crew of the Tidewater Tug Ryan Point for their actions in saving the lives to two capsized boaters last month,” Gates said.
The post always holds the SOS Brunch on the Saturday closest to Veteran’s Day to avoid a conflict with work days, or church.
The meal will be served at the Grandview community Center, 812 Wallace Way.
To make reservations call 509-883-1984 and leave a message with the number of people attending, Gates said.
