Quiet day for sheriff’s deputies

Yakima County Sheriff’s deputies handled two calls about domestic problems in the Lower Valley yesterday, Wednesday. One of the calls resulted in an arrest.

Prowlers hit vehicles in G’view

People still starting fires despite countywide burn ban

Yakima County Sheriff’s deputies yesterday, Monday, had to warn multiple people not to burn agricultural waste due to a county-wide burn ban. Deputies have been advising people caught burning, even in a burn barrel, of the consequences of violating the ban, which include a $1,000 fine and possible jail time.

S’side police alerted to burglary

Police in Sunnyside are investigating a burglary reported yesterday (Monday) in the 700 block of Cemetery Road.

Humvee taken for a joy ride

A GM Humvee truck was reported stolen yesterday afternoon from the 800 block of Wallace Way. The vehicle was later recovered just outside of Mabton, according to Grandview police. The incident is under investigation.
