Kiwanians appreciate all the support

The Kiwanis Club of Sunnyside would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s Easter food drive (Fill the Wagon) a huge success.

We would like to thank our generous sponsors – Fashion Corner, Commercial Tire and Dr. Stevens, DDS – as well as all the community members who came out last Friday to participate in our first ever Easter egg hunt and BBQ.

When it’s a sunny day in SUNNYside, you know it’s going to be a GREAT day! That’s how our 11th annual “Show & Shine” car show fundraiser turned out last Saturday.

Let street blockade stand

We live in the Sunnyside neighborhood east of the South Hill Road blockade. Since the blockage of the road we have enjoyed the peace and quiet, as well as the safety of all the children living in the neighborhood.

Crab feed support lauded

Thank you to all who supported the American Legion’s first ever crab feed on Saturday, Feb. 7. It was great to see people from all over join together for good times and good food.

Marijuana moratorium

I noticed with interest in your Feb. 6 article, titled “Six more months,” referring to the additional six-month moratorium on marijuana sales in Sunnyside.

No issues with police

I am writing in response to an article entitled “Six More Months” that was published in the Daily Sun News on Friday, Feb. 6. In the article I am said to have been critical of the police and that I thought they should be doing a better job arresting those who sell marijuana to our children. This is not true. I did not speak a word about the police.

Worried about impact of pot shop approval

Thank you Cathy Kelley and Sunnyside United for placing an ad in the Daily Sun News entitled, “Marijuana - it limits performance.”

Honor guard appreciated

A young man from Missouri, named Leon, joined the Air Force. He served with a Texan, who had a sister.

Remove South Hill Road blockade

I manage a business west of the road block (on South Hill Road), and in the past two years have witnessed a fair amount of congestion, which this blockage creates.

Allow God in schools

There are students, teachers and parents that don’t believe in God.
