OTHELLO – Four wins in the boys’ competitions and two by its girls’ squad made for a successful day for the Grandview High School track and field team.
WENATCHEE – The Sunnyside High School track team racked up a variety of personal bests at the Columbia Big Basin Nine meet in Wenatchee yesterday, including breaking a nearly 40-year-old school record.
YAKIMA – On West Valley’s home tennis courts yesterday, the host Rams chalked up a 5-2 victory against the Sunnyside boys.
Mabton moves on to District tourney play
COWICHE – For the second consecutive match, the Mabton boys soccer team came through with a clutch victory with its season on the line.
STILLWATER, OKLA. – Grandview High School senior Marizza Birrueta was named a High School Excellence Awards winner by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum.
With only one CWAC match remaining in the 2015 campaign, only one member of the Grandview girls golf team has yet to qualify for the District tourney, which will be staged on Wednesday, May 20, at Black Rock Creek Golf Course.
UMATILLA, ORE. – A last minute addition to this spring’s golf schedule provided the Sunnyside Christian Knights an opportunity to get in one more round before the 1B District tournament at Alta Lake Golf Course near Brewster on Wednesday, May 20.
MABTON – Lady Viking Jayde Cienfuegos went 3-for-3 and pitcher Jessica Moreno struck out five, but it wasn’t enough for Mabton.
WALLA WALLA – The Sunnyside Christian fastpitch softball team rallied after losing the opening game against DeSales 9-2 to come back and win the nightcap, 18-12.

A strong breeze and threatening rain clouds didn’t dampen the play of the host East Valley boys and girls tennis squads yesterday afternoon. The Red Devils rolled over visiting Grandview by identical 4-1 scores.
The gusting winds challenged the boys golf teams playing yesterday at Moses Lake Country Club.
Junior Alex Jaramillo topped a 16-harrier field in the boys’ 3200-meter run yesterday for Mabton’s lone win on the day.
The Sunnyside boys soccer team will next Tuesday travel to Wenatchee for the first round of District action.
