Beauty of the Noble Fir makes for a popular holiday tree choice

Charlie Brown never had a tree as pretty as this one, even though it is just a wire frame covered with a string of lights and a few glass ornaments. Area Christmas tree lots are staying open late to help holiday shoppers pick out the right size tree for their homes.

A huge fire pit keeps the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church Christmas tree lot volunteers warm on these cold December nights. According to Pastor Bob Widmann (second from left), the Sunnyside church’s Noble Fir and Grand Fir tree sales at the Nobles Furniture Store parking lot have been brisk despite the recent frigid weather.

Noble Firs and Grand Firs are the most popular trees being sold locally. Here, Dalia Delgadillo examines one of the freshly trimmed trees on display in the parking lot next to Sunnyside’s Taqueria Manzanillo located on Yakima Valley Highway.

John Deshiro (R) uses a chain saw to clean up the base of this Christmas tree trunk. Helping to remove the excess limbs is Miguel Gonzales. The volunteers at local lots will even help secure the chosen tree to the buyer’s vehicle.
