A group of 13 man-made islands, known as the Pearl, make up the Arabian Riviera, according to Dolan. Along the Pearl pathway are luxury apartments, marinas, hotels and more than 2 million square feet of international retail shops, restaurants, cafes and entertainment centers.

Kathleen Dolan, daughter of Barbara and Larry Dolan of Sunnyside, knows a lot about desert weather. The Sunnyside native spent her spring break living in the state of Qatar, located on the northeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Daily temperatures on the Persian Gulf average from 80 to 85 degree in March. August temperatures average 106 degrees.
