Hoops camp wraps up after two weeks of ballin’

Grandview basketball coach Frankie Medina organized a two-week hoops skills camp for youngsters. For the past couple of weeks, approximately 90 children in grades 6-8 took advantage of the camp’s three sessions each day. They came from throughout the region, from Selah to the Tri-Cities, just to improve their shots, defensive and offensive skills on the hardwood. Medina, a coach for the Young Gunz elite basketball team, as well as the Grandview High School boys varsity, enlisted the assistance of community members dedicated to providing youngsters a safe, healthy outlet for the summer. “But, it’s all about the kids,” Medina said as the camp came to an end on Friday at the Grandview Middle School gym. The kids surrounded him, taking note of every little piece of advice and putting into practice the skills taught to them.
