Prof. Dirk Korf, a criminologist at the University of Amsterdam, says the Dutch tolerance policy has worked well.

“The clear success is that there is regulated supply to users without having a strong effect on the prevalence on use itself,” he said. “One could be afraid that more people would use cannabis; that has not been the case.”

do some research, Cameron, instead of just spouting viewpoints unsupported by the facts.

I don't like the idea of a preacher like Cameron Garcia telling the rest of us how we should live our lives. If we follow Camerons logic then Sunnyside should ban alcohol, too. Alcohol kills millions of people per year. Cannabis has never killed anyone. None. Cannabis does not cause cirrhosis of the liver like alcohol. It does not cause wife beatings like alcohol. It does not cause fetal-alcohol syndrome. It does not cause cancer of the mouth or throat, like alcohol. "From a youth standpoint, my concerns are that it’s going to make it easier to get marijuana". You don't know that Cameron. You are just spouting off a bunch of unsupported viewpoints as the self appointed protector of youth in this community. If a young person wants marijuana today in Sunnyside they have no trouble finding it. And are all the adults to go without for the sake of the children? Then ban alcohol too, or you are a misinformed narrow minded hypocrite.

"The fact is, in spite of President Obama’s efforts to delay unpopular parts of the law, Obamacare has caused increased costs", says Doc Hastings.

Doc is either misinformed or willfully ignorant. check it out:

you Republicans were (and actually still are) against Social Security, against Medicare and now The Affordable Healthcare Act. Do a web search for Reagan and Medicare, you will find a video of the man ranting against socialism and cummunism, but what he is talking about is Medicare. The Koch brothers and the Heritage Foundation (their conservative organization) were for virtually all of the provisions of the Affordable Healthcare, including the employer madate (requiring employers to provide heathcare) and the indivivual mandate. Newt Gingrich wrote a book in 2009 calling for the very same things. The whole thing is that Republican party just does not want to cooperate with Obama on anything. The next few days after he was elected they had meetings all over the country calling on all conservatives to block anything he wants to do. How is such partisan hypocracy serving the citizens of the USA? Doc Hastings voted for the Ryan Budget in 2012. It would have done away with Medicare. That's right, Doc hasting would dismantle Medicare if he had his way. Let's hear you deny it, Doc. You can't, Doc. You are on record. The Republicans are for the Rich and the Religous Right thats wants you to live your life as they see fit.

what a partisan hypocrite. Doc, do I have to remind you that in March, 2012 you voted for the Ryan Budget Bill which would have replaced Medicare with a voucher system. Actuaries agree that it would not be enough to make up for the loss of medicare, but you voted for it Doc and now you put out this nonsense about Obama. "Every day, concerns surrounding the implementation of Obamacare continue to grow". No they don't, the only thing that continues to grow are the lies told by Republicans such as youself. Here us a link where people can inform themselves without having to rely on a two-faced member of a partisan Congress.

Number of American deaths per year that result directly or primarily from the following selected causes nationwide, according to World Almanacs, Life Insurance Actuarial (death) Rates, and the last 20 years of U.S. Surgeon Generals' reports.

TOBACCO - 340,000 to 450,000 ALCOHOL (Not including 50% of all highway deaths and 65% of all murders) - 150,000+ ASPIRIN (Including deliberate overdose) - 180 to 1,000+ CAFFEINE (From stress, ulcers, and triggering irregular heartbeats, etc.) - 1,000 to 10,000 "LEGAL" DRUG OVERDOSE (Deliberate or accidental) from legal, prescribed or patent medicines and/or mixing with alcohol - e.g. Valium/alcohol - 14,000 to 27,000 ILLICIT DRUG OVERDOSE - (Deliberate or accidental) from all illegal drugs - 3,800 to 5,200 MARIJUANA - 0 So you should concern yourselves with alcohol, nicotine, etc., more so than cannabis if you want to protect the churches, schools and children. Educate yourselves. You are not as well informed as you think.

Dennis: "Jan 23 (Reuters) - U.S. treasury and law enforcement agencies will soon issue regulations opening banking services to state-sanctioned marijuana businesses even though cannabis remains classified an illegal narcotic under federal law, Attorney General Eric Holder said on Thursday" Come on, Dennis, you can't see the forest for the trees. Jan: Please, no personal anecdotes. If you are so concerned about the health and well being of children why don't you make sugar illegal so the children of Grandview are not fat diabetics.

The people of Grandview deserve to have commissioners who are educated and informed, not a bunch of nincompoops who can't get over old prejudices and personal stories. For every cannabis addict I will show you ten alcohol tragedies. Cannabis is not addictive. It is not a gateway drug. Legal cannabis does not lead to more crime.
